The Big Buddha is perhaps Phuket's most famous attraction. The huge white statue of a sitting Buddha towers 45 meters and is visible from almost anywhere in the southern part of the island.
History
Construction began in 2004 and continued for several years. The statue was built with donations from Buddhists around the world. More than 135 tons of Burmese marble were used to create it.

How to Get There
The Big Buddha is located on Nakkerd Mountain between Chalong and Kata beaches. You can get there by:
- Rental car or motorcycle
- Taxi or tuk-tuk
- With a tour group
Tips for Visitors
- Best time to visit is morning or evening (less heat)
- Wear modest clothing (shoulders and knees should be covered)
- Admission is free, but donations are welcome
